While the summer heat is a nice change after a cold winter, sometimes it can make the inside of your home very hot, especially if you have a lot of windows. There are some ways to lower the effect that the sun has on the temperature, and more importantly, on the cost of cooling your home. One simple fix is to install window films. These can be purchased in a hardware store, and they come in different types: Permanent, Semi-Permanent, and Temporary. Usually, you buy them by the roll and then cut them to size to fit your windows.
If you are expecting to remove the films in the wintertime, then temporary or semi-permanent films are a good solution. That way you can take advantage of the heat from the sun in the colder months of the year.
To install a window film, all you need is usually just a cutting implement to cut it to size, a spray bottle and a plastic squeegee.
